Using innovative technology, the PHS Intelligent Water Management System regulates the flushing of the urinal to match the usage. By directly linking the number of people using the washroom to the flush rate, the system ensures the perfect balance between hygiene and cost.

An Infra-red sensor with a range of 3m counts the users and adjusts the flush rate accordingly:

  • If over 7 users are detected the unit will flush every 10 minutes
  • If there are between 1 and 7 users, it will flush every 30 minutes
  • If no users are detected it will flush every 8 hours

The PHS Intelligent Water Management System can save customers on average 70% when compared against an uncontrolled cistern and up to 30% against an "unintelligent" system (dependent upon urinal usage), but many customers have seen savings of 90%.

The PHS Water Management System has recently been awarded the Waterwise Marque, recognising its excellent water saving properties as well as substantial differences and advantages compared to other water saving devices currently available. It has also qualified for Defra's Water Technology List, which means that it is recognised as a product that encourages sustainable water usage. In addition it is WRAS approved.
